Melissa Jane Morris (Melmo to her friends) has been a fixture on the Colorado musical theatre scene for the last 15 years, has played leads ranging from Peter Pan to Dorothy to Junie B Jones and recently has been a regular in the children’s theatre at the Arvada Center. For the past 10 years or so she had been doing a sit in set with The Country Touch Band at their shows, which had been very popular. She and pedal steel player JB Arnold (her uncle) had been discussing putting a full band behind her and developing her own show for a couple of years, and when they talked to Larry Warner and found out he was looking for a project the race was on.
Melissa has a list of credits over 2 pages long, at almost every theatre up and down the front range as well as studying in the musical theatre department at Metro State. She fell in love early with the songs of Linda Ronstadt (her primary influence) which led to EmmyLou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and the rockabilly swing stylings of Commander Cody and Billy C Farlow. Melissa takes those songs and more and gives them her own unique touch. She has loved rehearsing this band, and we think you will enjoy the results!
